Commitee Member

Name:Angela Ferguson

Degree prog: BSC in Biodiversity and Ecology

Brief background:

I was born in Harare and when I was 2 years old we moved down to Bulawayo. I have lived in Skies ever since, minus a year or 2 back in Harare, a year in Durban, and now 3 years in Stellies. I am a Petra girl through and through having gone to both the Primary and the High School of which I was Head Girl in 2009. Hockey was my passion at school and I captained the Girls First team in upper six and represented Matabeleland from form 4 to Upper six. Although I never got involved in music, I enjoyed drama and acted in a number of school performances which were always great fun. I loved horse riding and my weekends were often spent at the Bulawayo Trade Fair grounds competing in show jumping events. I also thoroughly enjoyed camps, whether they be school camps or church youth camps and I went to at least 2 a year either as a leader or as a camper. I was a youth leader at the Bulawayo Baptist church for a number of years and having a heart for missions, I organized a couple of outreach trips to nearby local communities. Bible Studies were a major part of my weekly routine and it was there that I made many of my closest friends and learnt some of the most important things about our marvelous creator.

After school I took a gap year, working as a teacher’s assistant at Whitestone School and then as a trainee guide for a few weeks at Antelope Park. At the beginning of 2011 I made the great trek down to Stellenbosch and found myself loving first year, experiencing a new place, meeting loads of new people and making new friends. Following on from my love of Bio and Geo at school, I enjoyed first year studying a BSC in Biodiversity and Ecology and was honoured to become a member of the Golden Key at the end of first year. I’ve lived in Metanoia for the past 3 years and have continued playing hockey throughout that time, and being the Ladies hockey representative for res in 2013. This year I was also honoured to be on the Executive Committee of a brand new ZimSoc. My hope and prayer is that in the years ahead, this society will grow from strength to strength, proudly flying our nation’s flag across this campus and showing our fellow Maties what we mean when we say, “I AM ZIMBO”.

Name:Tatenda Chatukuta

Degree prog:BEng Chemical

Brief background:

I was born in Harare, where l completed my high school as well. I eulogize history and also consider my parents as my role models. I believe in courage, because as the Saint asserted, cowardice is an active quality too .About everything else, it’s all of grace. I’m interested in cooking as well as a staunchly supporting and playing cricket, (My father had to make me chose between High school and a Cricket Academy). I love tea, akin to my family members. I’m interested in business environments and busy atmospheres. After finishing high school I worked as a Manager for a popular brand in Zimbabwe. Tatenda can be described as tough talking per se .I rely entirely on God and instinct .I always believe that there is a solution out there for every situation, thinking further away from the box, rather than thinking in its proximity. I believe that hope and waiting are the greatest facets of wisdom one can be endowed with .My friends describe me as a frugalista, as well as a lover of the sweeter things of life, much to my chagrin.
