Message from our Chairman

Welcome to the website of Stellenbosch Canoe Club, the home of Maties Canoeing since 1970!

We’re one of the oldest canoe clubs in the Western Province, and although not the biggest, boasts as the one with the most National colour holders over the years!

The clubhouse is at the Vredenheim Dam , 5km outside Stellenbosch on the R44 on the way to Spier. Our club attracts lots of interest from bypassing tourists. We train on “Die Dam” and paddlers grinding away almost every day, come rain or sunshine, is a familiar sight.

The club is open to all ages and scholars, students and the more seasoned paddlers are all part of the crowd.

Time-trials of 8-9km, called Dam dices, are held weekly on Wednesday evenings at 17h45. The Dice is followed by a braai at “Uys se Huis”, our clubhouse with all the facilities, afterwards.

There is transport to all the local races at no extra charge.
